Shifra was one of midwives who helped the Israelite women and saved the Hebrew babies from Pharaoh in the Torah's Exodus story. We love the symbol of the midwife because the midwife first and foremost serves the woman who is pregnant. Her needs come first. With great care and compassion, the midwife guides women through birth and beyond. She embraces each woman and baby in her arms with unconditional love.
